(Hollywood, California ) — West Coast solo singer-songwriter Miri Hunter is back – with a band, a new attitude and a marvelous new release. “Hunter and the Wick’d” (also the name of the band) is a 10-track collection of Folk/Americana and what Hunter calls, Desert Country Rock songs written in and inspired by the hi desert of Joshua Tree. Their first recording together as a group, “Hunter and the Wick’d” is one of those heart-lifting, easy flowing albums where it’s impossible to choose a favorite song.
Several of the songs from the new CD are co-written by bassist/guitarist, Thom Merrick. Their collaboration started when Miri ventured out of Los Angeles and into the Hi desert for a rest from the hubbub of city life. They met at an open mic and the rest is musical history and herstory.
Together they explore country/desert melodies and bring them into a new contemporary folk style.
Hunter and the Wick’d performs throughout Southern California in places such as the Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs, Ghenghis Cohen in LA, the Soundstage in Pioneertown and various other venues in the Hi Desert and Las Vegas.
