Join the Hi-Desert community in an afternoon dedicated to creativity. Participate in workshops led by singer/songwriter/scholar, Miri Hunter; visual artist, Hilary Sloane; and writer, Cheryl Montelle. Join us as we lay the first brick in getting to the first story of healing the world as we re-cover the stories of our lives.
Activities include choice of workshops, special student art exhibit and closing evening concert featuring the music of Hunter and the Wick'd and special guest musicians.

Presenters Biographies Miri Hunter (Haruach), Ph.D. Miri Hunter Haruach, is an actor, independent scholar, poet and singer/songwriter. She is the author of three books including the short story collection In Search of Her Own Desire nine stories of women re-covering their voices. She is best known in the Hi-Desert as the singer and guitarist for the band Hunter and the Wick'd. She has toured the US with her one woman show Grandmothers of the Universe which is a collection of stories and songs based on the some of her ancestral diversity. In her spare time, Miri teaches Psychological development and Women's Spirituality at St. Mary's College.
Hilary Sloane - Artist With a creative career spanning photography, fine art, film and fashion, Sloane has been a working artist for most of her adult life. Since moving to the desert she has focused on projects that will reflect her vision and creative spirit showing at galleries both in the high desert and Los Angeles. Her business name, Take HeART is dedicated to Art, Soul, Spirit and Creativity. It is how she lives, teaches and creates. With the use of meditation and a well-practiced creative language she will inspire the artist in you to take flight and have fun.
Cheryl Montelle - Writer Cheryl Montelle is a Los Angeles based writer whose stories have been published in the online magazine, Divinecaroline.com, as well as other anthologies. Cheryl has performed her work in Los Angeles, Joshua Tree and New York City. In 2007 she has began producing and hosting an annual spoken word fundraiser, Desert Stories, for the High Desert Playhouse in Joshua Tree, CA. Cheryl is also founder of the Mil-Tree, an organization whose mission is to bring together veterans, active-duty military, and civilians in order to help each other address the wounds of the soul through communication and art.
